License Audit for Oracle ERP Cloud

A client came to me the other day and asked if we could implement some sort of licence audit over the top of the oracle cloud applications (ERP Cloud).  This could easily be applied to Engagement Cloud.  This was an opportunity to implement usage insights over the top of another ERP (We’ve done a few now).

Know what your users are doing.  Know what programs are being used, compare this to what you are paying.  You can compare historical periods, a complete 360 degree view of your cloud usage.

More importantly, when you are paying per user per month, you really need to understand who is using what – so you can manage your costs.  It’s classic cost controls, you want to ensure that you are getting what you pay for.

We were able to do a quick modification in ERP Cloud, and now we can see what ALL of our users are doing all of the time!

We are able to filter on country, environment, module and more

We can then drill down to module in oracle, the oracle module is calculated from the page title, where it is in the format of:

“Program – module – Oracle Applications” – you can see this below.  We’ve done some internal work mapping these modules to oracle pricing modules and have put them into the price column.

We are able to then look at holistically what the aggregate module usage is and estimated cost:

We can then actually look into the usernames and what they are doing.

The combination of all this information will allow you to start to fine tune your oracle licences and save money.

These reports can be scheduled.  We can also compare with invoice data to give you the net difference if you like.
