What is the JD Edwards Digital Workforce?
The JD Edwards Digital Workforce is a conversational AI platform for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. Think of it as a team of specialised JDE AI agents — one for each module — that you talk to in natural language. Ask about General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Sales Orders, Procurement, Inventory, Manufacturing or CNC administration, and the relevant JD Edwards expert answers using your live JDE data, then carries out the work for you.
How it works: MCP, AIS and headless JD Edwards
Under the hood, the platform is a textbook example of headless JD Edwards automation. Large language models (LLMs) don't talk to JDE directly — they talk through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). We run a set of MCP servers that expose JD Edwards capabilities as tools the AI can call, and those MCP servers drive JD Edwards through AIS — the JD Edwards Application Interface Services REST API.
That MCP + AIS architecture is what makes this headless EnterpriseOne: there is no browser, no clicking through forms by hand. The AI calls a tool; the MCP server translates it into an AIS request; JD Edwards does the work and returns the result. The platform combines several MCP servers:
- A JDE AIS MCP server — data queries, business functions (BSFNs), reports (UBEs), interactive AppStack application sessions and stateless Form Service CRUD.
- A JD Edwards Orchestrations MCP server — runs JDE orchestrations for reliable, end-to-end automation (the JD Edwards Orchestrator is Oracle's own no-code automation engine).
- A Server Manager MCP server — monitors JD Edwards infrastructure: web/AIS/enterprise instances, logged-in users, memory and health.
